Roots...

Psalm 1: 1-3
1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Like trees we also have roots. The interesting thing about roots is we know they are there but they are usually invisible. You know the saying “out of sight out of mind” I think we apply this to our roots as well. To the human eye the root goes undetected and unnoticed. But to God the roots are very important. God wants us to be firmly planted with our roots being continuously watered by the living water of His word. In order for the tree to produce fruit in its season the roots must be deeply grounded. This week I experienced God’s presence as He told be to stand strong and not move because He didn’t wanted my roots to be lifted and potentially destroyed. He reminded me that even though I couldn’t see what was going on underneath He was watering and strengthening my roots. Be encouraged in the face of the storms as you stand and your roots hold strong to the things of God and your tree doesn’t topple over. Pruning and growth doesn’t just take place with the branches it goes much deeper.
